Interview with Michelle Muto!

 MICHELLE MUTO

I read the first chapter of Don’t Fear the Reaper and I wanted to read more. It reaches out and grabs you within the first few sentences. What was your inspiration for the book?

Agents who liked The Book of Lost Souls wanted something darker. That and I’ve lost a lot of loved ones in my life.

When did you first decide you wanted to write?

I think I’ve always wanted to write. But, it never paid the bills. It still doesn’t, but I enjoy writing more than anything I’ve ever done.

Is it scary putting your work out there?

Very. A lot of work goes into a novel and writers put out that hard labor knowing that so many people will judge it – publicly.

What is your favorite genre to write?

Paranormal without a doubt.

What is your favorite genre to read?

This is trickier because I read a lot of books from fantasy, to technical, to memoirs. But at the top of my list are: paranormal, YA, horror, comedy, thriller, literary, and suspense.

Do you have a favorite author?

Not just one favorite, no. But the closest would be Stephen King.

Is there something you want to write about, that you haven’t yet?

Yes. A story with a dog as one of the main characters – mainstream fic, more like The Art of Racing in the Rain.

What is one silly fact about you?

That I’m really VERY silly. I have a very strange sense of humor. Oh, and I frequently quote lines from Supernatural and Harry Potter.

Do you have a favorite character you have written so far?

Yes. His name is Declan. That book hasn’t been released yet. It’s already written, but I need to figure out when would be a good time to release it since it does factor in with another book of mine. It’s not in the same series, but Declan is sort of a cross over character in a roundabout way.

Does that reflect anyone you know?

Not really, since I don’t personally know either Sir Anthony Hopkins or the fictional character Jethro Gibbs on NCIS. Declan is a cross between the two and then some. He’s totally badass. If Declan were real, I’d never want to be on his bad side.

Anything you want to say the aspiring writers reading the blog??

Keep writing. Nothing makes you better at the craft than to write as much as you can. Oh, and read. You can’t learn to write better without reading – a lot.

When the demon offers Keely her ultimate temptation–revenge on her sister’s killer–she must determine who she can trust. Because, as Keely soon learns, the reaper and demon have been keeping secrets and she fears the worst is true–that her every decision changes how, and with whom, she spends eternity.
