Interview with Margaret Sarah Bechtel

Margaret Sarah Bechtel

When did you first decide you wanted to write?  I’ve always written short stories but it wasn’t until a few years ago I actually sat down and finished my first book, In The Land Of Winter and in the following year I wrote Learning In The Dark.

Did you get nervous the first time you put your work out there? Yes, as a writer you make up things but you also put alot of your self or truths about your own experineces. Writing can make you feel open but also very vulenreble.

What is your favorite genre to write? Well my first two novels are considered to drama or thriller but I’ve been working a couple of fantasy YA adult projects.  I would have to say I like writing down whatever pops into my head.  I love to read everything and write everything too.

What is your favorite genre to read? Paranormal.

Do you have a favorite author?  If there is a good story I like them, they’re are too many to name.

Is there something you want to write about, that you haven’t yet? I write about whatever is on my mind at the time.  I don’t really plan my stories ahead of time, at least I haven’t honed that skill just yet.

What is one silly fact about you?  I put ranch dressing on my popcorn and I hate cake and frosting.

If you could hang out with a character from any book who would it be? Ayla, from Clan Of The Cave Bear.

Are you a glass half full or a glass half empty kind of person? I would have to say for the most part half full.

Anything you want to say the aspiring writers reading the blog??  Never give up on telling your stories, even if someone says it’s not worth it or they’re no good.  As a writer you’re going to face a lot of rejection but also you’ll find a readership that ‘get’s you’ and you never know how your words may affect someone.

Thank you for having me here.
