Self Publish or Die

Create Your Dreams

Interview with Diana Nixon

Interview with Diana Nixon

1. What is your favorite thing about writing paranormal?

It’s a perfect genre to create your own fairy tale:) You can become a hero and save someone’s life using your super powers, or you can be a bad guy, making everyone freeze in fear. This is fun! You can make all your childish dreams come true without being punished for smashing something to pieces with a simple wave of your hand:) Besides, fantasy is my favorite genre. I’m always looking for some new book to read and usually I chose the one that has something paranormal in its plot.

2. Is there a genre you would like to try that’s different?

I could try to write a romance without anything supernatural, I’ve got a few ideas. Maybe one day I will:) But right now I’m too addicted to super powers and magic:)

3. Tell us a bit about Love Lines.

The Love lines novel was my debut book. I enjoyed every second of writing it, so when it was ready I just couldn’t stop myself from creating a whole series of books. And I’m really happy that now I have a chance to spend more time with my favorite characters:) Love lines is a fantasy novel about love, friendship and adventures. The events of the book take place in modern Britain, where people with various supernatural talents live, trying to protect their world from humans. Besides from reading auras, my characters can predict futures, distinguish truth from falsehood, explain the meaning of dreams, speak the language of flowers and invent new magic spells. There are no vampires or werewolves in my book (not that I don’t like both, lol) but there are mysteries, beautifully described feelings and magic!

4. Could you live without coffee?

I thought I could! But when you spend so many hours staring at the screen of a laptop it’s simply impossible to survive without coffee. So now I start every day with a big cup of coffee in my hands.

5. What came first the chicken or the egg?

I hope that all the supporters of the egg-was-first theory will forgive me, but I think that it was the chicken:)

6. Three facts about you

I’m very stubborn. It’s almost impossible to make me do something I don’t really want to do. I hate mean people. And I adore writing! If I didn’t have anything else to do, I would probably spend days and nights working on my books:)

7. What was your favorite snack growing up?

8. Would you rather have fame or fortune?

I’m sure when you have fortune you have fame:) So I would choose the second variant.

9. Do you speed when you drive?

I do! Just don’t tell anyone:) And my husband would probably kill me for that, though I think he knows I do:)

10. Your thoughts on Self Publishing.

I have never been published traditionally, so I don’t know what would be the advantages of having someone else to do my job for me. I like to advertise my books, to give interviews and to chat with my readers via my various Internet pages. It would be like this anyway. Besides, I don’t have any deadlines and I can work on my book as long as I need, as well as to create my own covers and chose the interior design.

11. Are you a tweeter, a re-tweeter, or you couldn’t care less about Twitter?

I’m a loser when it comes to Twitter:) I do have an account, but I prefer Facebook.

12. Your favorite type of music

13. Your favorite memory

I have several: the day I graduated from the University, my wedding day and the day when my daughter was born.

14. Your favorite quote

Helen Keller once said: “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart…”

15. Anything you would like to say to the aspiring authors reading this blog?

Do what you like most. If it’s writing then go ahead, don’t stop no matter what others say:)
