Only Love Survives Blog Tour, Giveaway, and Interview with Renee Charles!

Amidst an epidemic ravaging the world, all Megan Fletcher’s hopes for the future lie in getting to Las Vegas where newscasts reported scientists were gathering to search for a cure for the modern plague. After rescuing her from a rooftop surrounded by Zombies, Sam Woods appoints himself her escort.  While he knows she is determined to get to Vegas no matter the cost, he doesn’t know her secret. And with his hatred of all things Zombie, she doesn’t dare tell him the truth. The more he kisses her, the harder it is for Megan to hide her growing feelings…and the bite-shaped scar.

But Vegas is not the haven it was promised to be, and when Megan’s immunity to the disease is discovered, she realizes her future and her heart belong to Sam, if he will trust her.  An idealistic school teacher and ex-corporate mogul manage to find love despite a looming worldwide catastrophe. Can their love survive while everything around them is dying? Will they learn that when facing the end of the world, Only Love Survives?

A storm that spelled danger flashed across Sam’s face. He advanced on Megan so fast, she backed up against the side of the Suburban. Planting a hand firmly on each side of her, he pinned her with his arms as well as his gaze.

“What I want? Are you so hard headed you can’t tell what I want?” He covered her mouth with his lips and crushed her clever comeback with an assault on her senses.

Megan pushed him, but he didn’t budge. Instead, he continued to kiss her until her heart raced and cheeks flushed with need. All resistance melted and she succumbed to the warmth of his embrace. Her arms wound around his neck of their own accord pulling him closer while her tongue sought his in a passionate dance, completely ignoring what her heart wanted.

When he finally broke away leaving Megan breathless and wanting so much more, Sam put his forehead to hers and watched her mouth like a drunk watches amber liquid poured into a glass. “You,” he rasped. “I’ve wanted you since I found you hanging from that damn roof, and all our little encounter in the river did was add fuel to the fire.”

Author, Renee Charles believes all love is legendary. Being the only female in a house full of giants (husband and two teenage boys) she tends to lean toward the strange and unusual, but inevitably the softer side shines through.

Whether life leads her to a snow covered mountain top, sun dappled forest, or the bottom of a ravine (yes, ditches happen) she always has a pen and note pad ready so wherever the next adventure takes her, she can take notes.

Her own romance began in an insane asylum. Luckily, both she and her husband only worked there. But it makes sense her romance novels have strange beginnings that lead to passionate endings. Romance with a dark twist.

In the face of zombies, werewolves, and big foot she always seems to find a happily ever after to leave you with a sigh at the end.

What inspired your new release? Well, I love zombies and I love romance, so I think it was inevitable the two would come together for me. Megan came to me first, and I loved her character so much, I had to find a strong Alpha male that pushed her buttons in all the right ways…enter Sam.

Tell us about any WIPs you have

I am currently working on Summer’s story, Sam’s sister. It will pick up where Only Love Survives leaves off, and all the same characters will be there including the Zombies.

In a word sum up your writing style

Action. I love to keep the story moving, no pausing to take a breath or reflect too much. I want the reader to finish my book and wish the ride was not over.

Do you have a character you enjoyed writing the most?

That’s like asking which kid I love most. I love them all equally, even the villains.

Is there a genre you would like to try?

Hummm, I’m not done with this genre. There are so many possibilities. Bigfoot, swamp monsters & Ghosts, Oh my!

Could you live without coffee?

I’m sorry, I don’t understand the question. (Sips from her cup.) :)

Tell us one of your favorite jokes

I really don’t know any. If I am ever funny, it happens completely by accident.

What’s your favorite thing about the writing process?

I love that moment when you discover a way to tie a story line back to something else and the plot breaks away from being linear. Like when a spider web changes from two simple threads connected to one another, and becomes something spherical and beautiful.

Three facts about you

1)      I have a nostalgic streak a mile long. (My husband calls it a pinup fetish.)

2)      I have been married to an Alpha male for many, many years and I still get all flustered when his rooster feathers fluff up.

3)      I have two boys; one in High school who wants to become a pilot when he gets out, and another in the Army who jumps out of planes for a living. The irony being… I have to take a pill to set foot on a plane.

Do you believe in UFOs?

I believe it is hubris to think we have all the answers, and perfectly okay to not know one way or another. Leaves room for imagining the impossible.

Favorite Cartoon growing up- Super Friends, I had a huge crush on Aqua man.

Do you speed when you drive?

The officer said I did, but I disagree.

Spaghetti or Lasagna and why?

Spaghetti if I am making it, because it is easier to make. Lasagna if someone else is making it, because everything is better with cheese.

 Your thoughts on Self Publishing

I just wrote an article for Affaire de Coeur Magazine about that very thing, but it’s not out yet. I think a happy medium can be found somewhere between the Big 5 and self-publishing with smaller publishing houses. I don’t want to have to be an expert at everything in order to publish my book. Nor do I want to be lost somewhere in a slush pile regardless of my talent because they have already published an Urban Fantasy recently. I love all the support I get over at The Wild Ross Press from my editor and my Marketing department, as well as the other authors.

Your thoughts on Zombies

Run faster than the guy next to you. Other than that, I share my heroine’s opinion. They were people once who’ve lost everything including their humanity.

Do you believe in the Loch Ness Monster?

Did you know there are Sturgeon here in the Great North West the size of school buses at the bottom of Bonneville Dam. So sure, why not. Maybe they have giant Sturgeon too. Or giant something else for that matter.

Are you a tweeter, a re-tweeter, or you couldn’t care less about Twitter?

Hello, my name is Renee and I am addicted to Twitter. It is like standing in front of the world’s largest magazine rack with links to anything you could possibly want to read about.

Would you rather sit on a porch with sweet tea {insert other beverage if tea isn’t your thing} or go hiking with a bottle of water and a smile?

If that porch were in my back yard and in front of a fire pit and the tea were a whip cream vodka and diet cherry 7up, I am there. I traverse the woods on a snow mobile or in a wheeler, and the only hiking I do is to the nearest bush when nature calls.

Your favorite type of music

If anyone were ever to steal my MP3 player, they would think I was psycho. I have everything from Dean Martin and Louis Armstrong to Rob Zombie and Metallica, with some Gretchen Wilson and Katie Perry Mixed in. A good song is a good song.

Anything you would like to say to the aspiring authors reading this blog?

Don’t get discouraged. Even Hemmingway, Steinbeck and Shakespeare had critics. Just be open to learning from those with more experience, and teaching those that follow. You will get there one word at a time.
